Dana Paul Boulier

November 19, 1937 — January 31, 2025

Spartanburg, Sc

Dana Paul Boulier, 87, of Spartanburg, passed away peacefully at his home on January 31, 2025. Dana was born on November 19, 1937, in Presque Isle, Maine. He was a son of the late William Howard Boulier and Beatrice Wright Boulier.

After graduating from Presque Isle High School in 1956, Dana joined the United States Air Force where he served honorably for nine years. He served overseas in Pakistan and was stationed primarily in Washington, D.C. During his time in Washington, D.C., he met and then married Winona Perry. They married on August 22, 1959 and remained happily married for over 65 years. While in the Air Force, Dana was trained to become a computer programmer. This led to a successful 45-year career as an IT professional. Following his service in the military, Dana spent a brief time working with NASA at Cape Kennedy in Florida and then accepted a job in the Information Technology Department at Milliken where he worked from 1967-1983. During this time, he decided to go to college while continuing to work full-time at Milliken. He graduated from USC-Spartanburg in 1975. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, he was an instructor teaching computer programming courses at Spartanburg Community College and Spartanburg Methodist College. In 1984, Dana and Winona moved to Orlando, Florida where he worked as an independent contractor at several different companies, including AT&T and Avaya. Dana and Winona moved back to Spartanburg for retirement in 2004.

Dana’s primary love and focus was his family. He was a devoted, faithful husband and a wonderful, encouraging father to his three children. To his three granddaughters, he was the Grandpa who loved to joke around and took a special interest in their lives. Dana loved helping other people. He had a route for Mobile Meals for several years and made a point to get to know the folks on his route. He delivered Mobile Meals well into his 80s. He readily offered a helping hand to his neighbors. Dana enjoyed playing golf with friends, loved yardwork, and loved starting and finishing projects in and around his house. He had an inquisitive mind and was a passionate reader for most of his life.

Dana is survived by his wife, Winona. He is also survived by Perry Dana Boulier and his wife, Jill, John Scott Boulier, and his wife, Cindy, and Andrea Boulier Malloy, and her husband, Paul. He is also survived by three granddaughters: Lauren Reynolds Boulier, Maizie Grace Daniel-Boulier, and Cassidy Rose Daniel-Boulier. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter and by his brothers, Robert Boulier, Sr. and Gerald Boulier.

A private family service was conducted on February 4, 2025 with Rev. Richard Smith officiating.

Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, 419 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, or to Southside Baptist Church, 316 S. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
