David Hall Hammett, M.D., died on Friday, January 12, 2024, in Columbia, SC at the age of 48 years. Dr. Hammett was a neurologist in Columbia who specialized in the treatment of migraine headaches and spasticity after strokes or brain injury. He was born in Spartanburg, SC on January 15, 1975, and was the son of Barbara B. Hammett and the late Robert A. Hammett. He was an honor graduate of Spartanburg High School, Wake Forest University (Summa Cum Laude), and Wake Forest School of Medicine (Bowman Gray). In addition to his mother, David is survived by his brother, Bobby Hammett (Evan), daughters, Caraway Ann Hammett and Carlysle Gettys Hammett, niece and nephew, Eliza Hall and Robert Hammett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Avra Callie Brannon Hammett. There will be a private celebration of life for his family at The Episcopal Church of the Advent.
