David Marcellous Renwick

October 31, 1964 — November 18, 2022

David Marcellous Renwick, age 58, husband of Susan Smith Renwick, passed on November 18, 2022. 

 

He was born in Newberry, South Carolina, on October 31, 1964, to Robert M. (deceased) and Vernetha F. Renwick. He was a 1982 graduate of Newberry High School and went on to earn a BA from Wofford College in 1986. While at Wofford, David was a four-year letterman on the Terriers’ Baseball Team, also serving as captain of his team.

 

David was a loving, christian husband and father, completely devoted to his family. Whether coaching his children or cheering them on from the stands, David always showed up. He and Susan were at every function that involved their family. David led the family in their having a firm foundation of faith. They are members at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, where David served his church family as a deacon. In addition to being a devoted family man, David was a dear friend to so many. 

 

After becoming established in corporate banking in North Carolina, David continued his business career for the next 25 years in the family business, Safeguard Safety Shoes, Spartanburg, SC.

 

David is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan Smith Renwick, and their three children: Adam David, Jack Bradley, and Anna Grace. He is also survived by his mother, Vernetha F. Renwick, and three siblings: brother, William Renwick (Terry); sister, Martha McGuffee; brother, Hugh Renwick; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

 

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, conducted by Mr. Chuck Wallington. A visitation will precede the service at 1:30 p.m., also at FBCS.
