David Carroll Smith

Spartanburg, SC- David Carroll Smith, 75, husband of Charlene Young Smith, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born July 22, 1947 in Spartanburg, SC, David was a son of the late Horace Carroll Smith and Dorothy Williams Smith. He attended Spartanburg High School, class of 1965, and graduated from Limestone College. David retired from the South Carolina Probation and Parole Board after 25 years of service. He was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church for 40 years where he sang with The Golden Tones and was a member of the choir. 

In addition to his loving wife of 52 years, Charlene, David is survived by his daughters, Amanda S. Wolfe and Jennifer C. Smith; grandson, Clay Wolfe (Nicole); great granddaughter, Hannah Rose Wolfe; a brother, Steve Smith (Sharon) of Columbia, SC; a sister, Cindy S. Holland (Bob); his mother in-law, Cornelia D. Young; a brother in-law, Benny Young (Pat); and sister in-law, Tami Pledger.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 24th, 10:00-10:45AM at Morningside Baptist Church. Memorial services will follow at 11:00AM, officiated by Reverend Steven Owensby.
