Donald Raymond Reckers, 82, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born in Covington, KY, on February 9, 1942, to the late Mary Frances and Charles Raymond Reckers.
After graduating from Holy Cross Catholic School in Covington, Don enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Vietnam War and was proud of his time guarding his country. Don enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching Westerns on TV and caring for his dog, Isabella, and cats, Sassy Joe and Einstein. He was a quiet man and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Don will be deeply missed by his wife of 25 years, Viviane C. Reckers. He is also survived by his children, Chuck Reckers (Shannon) of Jacksonville, FL, Kris Reckers (Stephanie) of Howe, IN, Lori Pelusi (Michael) of Iron Station, NC, Peter Kimmanee (Trudy) of Chesnee, SC, Kris Senchantixay (Beth) of Anchorage, AK, and Tony Kimmanee (Kanani) of Jacksonville, FL; nineteen grandchildren, Harley, Delaney, Dalton (Samantha), Ethan (Britney), Noah (Avery), Daniel (Ashley), Andrew (Isabella), Hannah (Zach), Miriam, Abigail, Samuel, Zackery, Alex, Christian (Brianna), Max (Marissa), Kathleen, Gracie, Keagan, and Elias; and nine great-grandchildren, DJ, Brayley, Kole, Emmit, Jack, Oakley, Layla, Hailey, and Micah. His sister, Kay Ahr, predeceased Don.
Visitation will be from 3:30-4:45 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 pm in the chapel, conducted by Rev. Jim Loller.
Don’s family and friends will greatly miss him. We long for the time that we will reunite with him in heaven, “guarding heaven’s streets.” (taken from the Marine Corps Hymn)
