Doris Jean Gideon Hughes

Doris Jean Gideon Hughes Spartanburg, SC – Doris Jean Gideon Hughes, 85, wife of the late George Thomas “Tommy” Hughes, died Saturday, December 16, 2017. Doris was born on August 6, 1932 in Cross Anchor, to the late John and Lula Harris Gideon. She graduated from Cross Anchor High School and Cecil Business School. Doris loved children and had a lifelong career in child care. She was a past Director of the Children’s Day Car Program at Bethel United Methodist Church where she was also a member. Doris is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth “Beth” R. Hughes, Patricia “Patti” H. Webster (Bill); grandson, Jesse W. Webster; and a sister, Jewel “Judy” Taylor. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Hughes and her brother Mack Gideon. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 1:45PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00PM in the Dunbar Funeral Home Chapel. A private interment will be at Heritage Memorial Gardens.
