Doris Pettit Lancaster

Spartanburg, SC- Doris Pettit Lancaster, 93, wife of the late Ryan H. Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Born December 9, 1929 in Spartanburg, SC, Doris was the daughter of the late Henry Franklin and Carrie Littlefield Pettit. She was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and a former member of Friendship Baptist Church, growing up in the Friendship Community. Doris was a graduate of Pauline High School, class of 1947, and later became co-owner of Colonial Hairstyle where she worked as a cosmetologist for many years.

Doris is survived by her brothers, Selden R. Pettit and J. Ronald Pettit (Joyce); her sisters, Shirley P. Smith, Linda P. Brunson (Joe), and Barbara P. Stokes (Ron); a brother in-law, Larry Lancaster (Barbara); and a loving nephew, who was like a son, Greg A. Lancaster. She is survived by many caring nieces and nephews and a special caregiver, Nancy Garner. Doris also leaves behind her beloved canine companion, Butch.

In addition to her husband, Doris was predeceased by her brothers, Marvin R. Pettit, C. Heyward Pettit, and Henry F. Pettit, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth P. Harrison.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 16^th, 1:00-1:45PM at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM, officiated by Reverend Chris Snelgrove and Reverend Kevin Bishop. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
