Elizabethton, TN- Dorothy Tillotson Pruitt, 92, wife of the late Cecil Paul Pruitt, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021. Born January 22, 1929 in Spartanburg, SC, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Henry and Bernice Holder Tillotson. She was a graduate of Fairforest High School, class of 1946, and worked as Department Head of Roses at Westgate for many years. Dorothy was a longtime member of the former Oak Grove Baptist Church. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Jean Painter, Judy Pruitt, and Janice Camp (Terry); grandchildren, Christi Tipton (Branson), Nick Varner (Gena), Dr. Joe Hash (Amanda), Ashley McClean (Chris), Crystal Webb (Aaron), and David Camp (Breanna); great grandchildren, Branson Lee Tipton (Kat), Skyler Tipton Showe (Dalton), Brady Tipton (Tucker “That Girl”), Cassidy Tipton, Tristin Tipton, Ellison Rhys and Emerson Rhyan Varner, T. J., Brayden, and A.J. Hash, Cadence and Ethan McClean, Caleb, Rylee, and Ashur Webb, Evalyn and Sadie Camp, Hayden and Rowen Leary; great-great grandchildren, Carter and Parker Showe; and a sister, Ruth Riddle. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by a great grand, Weston Varner; a great-great grandchild, Braylen Tipton; two sisters, Ann Staggs and Barbara Fowler; and two brothers, J.D. “Jake” and Henry “Bud” Tillotson. The family wishes to give a special thanks to “That Girl” who took extra special care of Granny. And a special thank you to Franklin Woods Hospital 2nd floor nursing staff Johnson City, TN and the staff of Hillview Health and Rehab in Elizabethton, TN for the excellent and loving care provided to Dot and her family. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 27th, 3:00PM in Westwood Memorial Gardens, 6101 Reidville Road, Moore, SC 29369, officiated by Reverend David Slatton and Reverend Dr. Joe Hash. Pallbearers will be her grand and great grandsons. The family will be at the home of Janice and Terry Camp.
