Dr. Warren C. Lovett Spartanburg - Warren C. Lovett, MD, of Spartanburg, SC died Friday, November 16, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Dr. Lovett was born September 24th, 1933 in New Orleans, Louisiana the second son of Henry Clay and Lise Chaney Lovett. He was preceded in death by his older brother Clifford and is survived by his younger brother Thomas (Tom) of FL. and his loving wife Emily Littlefield Lovett. Dr. Lovett attended Union College where he received a degree in chemistry and later attended Loma Linda University earning his MD. He served as a doctor in the US Air Force serving in Vietnam and married Dr. Katherine Jane Teasley, now deceased, after meeting her during their residency in Jacksonville, FL.  The Drs. Lovett moved to Spartanburg, SC after practicing medicine in Orlando, FL for a brief period and began practicing medicine in Spartanburg, making it home. Later, Dr. Lovett joined the Family Practice Residency program at Spartanburg Regional Health System and served for a time as it’s director. During his time on faculty for this program, he was afforded the opportunity to train and mentor the next generation of Family Practice Professionals, a task that he enjoyed greatly and gave him a great deal of pride. Warren was a steadfast member of the Spartanburg Seventh-Day Adventist church where he served as head elder. After retiring from practice and teaching medicine, Warren helped with the St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic and volunteered during the cleanup in the aftermath of hurricane affected areas. Warren also went in mission trips to Kenya, Haiti, as well as other places. Warren had many hobbies which included, fishing, sailing, golf, skiing and camping. Most of all, he enjoyed physical labor and found solace and serenity in focusing on the task solely in front of him and took comfort in sore muscles and knowing the job was done right. Warren is also survived by his three children Marie Lovett Taylor (Billy) of Georgetown, SC, Warren Clay Lovett, Jr. (Sally) of Clayton, NC and Wilson Teasley Lovett of Atlanta, GA, his step-children, Donna Taylor Bragg (Tommy) of Spartanburg, SC and Kimberly Porter Bogan (Monty) of Spartanburg, SC. His grandchildren: Kimberly Megan Parr, William Clay Lovett, Grant Shane Parr, Taylor Faith Bragg, Benjamin Emmett Taylor, Katherine Elise Taylor, Elizabeth Reid Lovett, Eva Michaela Mullinax, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Spartanburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 1217 John B White Sr. Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29306 at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 19, 2018. A reception will follow in the adjoining Colburn Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Eddlemon Adventist School, 1217 John B.
