Edith Johnson Fornell

Spartanburg, SC- Edith Johnson Fornell, 98, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022.  

She was born in Blue Island, IL and resided in Oak Lawn, IL until she and her husband, Seth N. Fornellmoved to Spartanburg in 2004.   Her parents, Ernest and Nellie Johnson, emigrated from Sweden in the early part of the 20th century.  She was a long time employee of the Rock Island Railroad before retiring.  Edie loved to travel and spend time with her relatives, enjoying her last active years with her sister in-law,Pauline Johnson, widow of her brother, Elmer E. Johnson, a long time city alderman in Blue Island, IL. She always saw the good in people, was kind, generous, active in her church and a good friend to all. Mostly importantly she had a wonderful sense of humor that she retained until the end. 

She leaves behind her nephew, Richard A. Johnson (Carol) of Spartanburg, SC; a niece, Sheri Miller of O’Fallon IL; great nephews and nieces, Lindsay Lowry(Brad) of Spartanburg, SC, Lauren McWilliams (Reece) of Columbia, SC, Rich Johnson of Charleston, SC, Kye Miller of Phoenix, AZ, and Sean Miller O'Fallon, IL; along with five great-great nieces and nephews.
