Elizabeth Blanchard Millwood

Spartanburg, SC- Elizabeth Blanchard Millwood, 90, wife of the late Raeford Glen Millwood, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

Born January 27, 1933 in Spartanburg, SC, Elizabeth was a daughter of the late Herbert Blanchard and Beryl Jewell Blanchard. She was a graduate of Roebuck High School and Winthrop College, where she obtained her Associates Degree. Elizabeth played an instrumental role in the start of the South Carolina Association of Registration and Elections. She spent many years serving the Spartanburg community and retired in Anderson County as Registration and Elections Director. Before her retirement, Elizabeth earned the title of President of IACREOT, International Association of Clerks, Reorders, Election Officials, and Treasurers, and represented the state of South Carolina. 

She was a longtime member of Canaan Baptist Church and Welcome Baptist Church, and served actively in both. 

Elizabeth leaves behind her daughters, Cindy Smith (Dan) and Stevi Bryant (Junior); son in-law, David Adkins; grandchildren, Dawn (Josh), David (Karen), Chris, Julie (Tim); grandson in-law, Jay; great grandchildren, Chance (Ashley), Marissa (Regan), Cole, Bailey (Nathan), Hudson, Desirae, Xavier, Kadence, Andrew, and Aidan; and siblings, Judy Hayes, Ronald Blanchard, and Lynn Lawson.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry Adkins; a granddaughter, Missy; grandson, Trampis; and siblings, Warren “Doc” Blanchard and Jane Shropshire.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 16th, 2:00PM in Heritage Memorial Gardens.
