Elizabeth Cook Smith

Roebuck, SC- Mary Elizabeth Cook Smith, 82, wife of John Frank Smith, Jr., died Thursday, October 05, 2017 at her home. Born March 3, 1935 in Spartanburg, SC, Elizabeth was a daughter of the late Walter J. and Hattie Lucille Chapman Cook. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, class of 1951, and also a graduate of Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing. Elizabeth was a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg where she was an active member of the Joy Sunday School Class. In addition to her husband, Elizabeth is survived by her son, Chip Smith (Alice Dunn) of Murrells Inlet, SC; two daughters, Debbie Earnhardt (Tommy) of Roebuck, SC and Sandy Williams (Randy) of Enoree, SC; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Ann Fowler of Chapin, SC. She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Davis. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 7th, 10-11AM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the Chapel at 11AM. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1 Caledon Court, Greenville, SC 29615 or to the charity of one’s choice.
