Ernest Russell Washburn, III

Spartanburg, SC- Ernest Russell Washburn, III, 69, husband of Jennifer Huff Washburn, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. 

Born February 9, 1953 in Charleston, SC, Rusty was a son of the late Judith Edwards Washburn and Dr. Ernest Russell Washburn, Jr. 

Formerly the president of Washburn & Co., "Rusty" opened Richland Creek Outlet in 1982 and then The OOPS! Co. He sustained long friendships within the textile industry.

There was little that made Rusty happier than to share stories (often enhanced) and his culinary talents. A strong optimist, Rusty never gave up on fighting the health challenges he faced. Some said he had lived more than the 9 lives of SEVERAL cats. A believer in laughter therapy and always looking forward, Rusty kept his transplanted heart a record 35+ years.

In addition to his wife, Jennifer, Rusty is survived by his son, Ernest Russell Washburn, IV (Melissa Milling); his daughter, Maria Caroline Washburn; grandchildren, Payton Olivia Washburn, Maribel Grace Washburn, and Maya Damaris Washburn-Hughey; and his brother, Michael Edward Washburn. 

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 4^th, 2:00PM at the Episcopal Church of the Advent.
