Ernie was born in Bronx, New York to the parents of Luisa and Salvatore Mazzella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gaetano Mazzella, and a sister, Mary Calise. He was survived by his five children, Salvatore Mazzella, Dominick Mazzella, Ernesto Mazzella. Jr., Annie Messina, and Gus Mazzella; six grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Sandolo; and Maryanne Gutowski, the mother of his children.
He was a plumber by trade and owned his own business in Babylon, New York. In his later years, he enjoyed part time employment at Walmart and Lowes, and served as a Security Guard. He had a love for Dobermans, and he raised them throughout his life. His love for the NY Yankees was evident, as he always sported a shirt or baseball cap cheering on his favorite team. Ernie was always the life of the party with his quick wit and spontaneous humor. He will be truly missed by those who knew him best.
Services will be Thursday, March 28, 2024 in the chapel of Dunbar Funeral Home. A brief service will take place at 7:00 P.M., with the family receiving friends before and after the service. The service will be led by Rev. Brian Redding with music led by Rev. Stephen Skinner,
Private Burial will take place at Deland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Deland, Florida at a later time.
