Evelyn Inez Alley Shipman

Spartanburg, SC- Evelyn Alley Shipman, 88, wife of the late Charles Bayless Shipman, died Sunday, June 25, 2023.

Born December 27, 1934 in Spartanburg, SC, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Mary Lou Painter Alley and Clyde Thomas Alley. She worked for Spartan Mills for many years and was a member of Stone Station Baptist Church.

Evelyn loved the Lord and her family. She spent countless years teaching Sunday school and children’s church. Her greatest honor in life was being called “Granny” by those that loved her.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Shipman (Karen) of Moore, SC; daughter, Linda Kay Jennings of Spartanburg, SC; daughter in-law, Wanda Shipman; grandchildren, Tracy Harmon, Ruby Wright, Shawn Shipman, Johnny Shipman, Brittany Long, Hannah Pack, and Clint Shipman; and fourteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Charles, she was predeceased by a son, Jimmy Shipman; a grandson, Donnie Jennings; and a brother, Johnny Alley.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 1st, 12:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home.
