Freddi Keller Lee
August 29, 1950 — May 31, 2024
Freddi Keller Lee 73, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024 at the home she shared with her daughter and family after a courageous battle with dementia. Despite the challenges posed by her illness, her spirit remained unbroken, her bright blue eyes always smiling, reflecting the indomitable brightness within her. She never complained, embodying resilience and grace until the end.
Freddi was born in Spartanburg, SC on August 29, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Fred Keller and the late Mattie Lou Keller.
Freddi was a gifted gardener, known for her green thumb and the vibrant, meticulously organized yard she maintained throughout the seasons. Her love for nature extended to photography later in life, where she found joy in capturing the beauty of animals, nature, and the subtle changes each season brought. Her photographs were a testament to her keen eye and appreciation for the natural world.
Born a tiny and timid child, with an unusual name and spelling, Freddi discovered her true calling in the theater, where she blossomed into a confident and courageous woman. She pursued her passion for the performing arts with dedication, acting in numerous stage productions for over 20 years. This love for theater was a significant part of her life, enriching her and those around her.
A proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, Freddi spent her early years raising her children and later contributed her talents as an administrative assistant to academic leaders in Spartanburg’s many Colleges.
Freddi is survived by her three children, Michael (Angela), Keller, and Liza (Jonathan), and her four cherished grandchildren, William, Mercy, Madeline, and Thomas. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Linda Black of Duncan, SC. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr Raymond B. Lee.
A receiving of friends and family will be 2:00-2:45pm on Friday, June 7, 2024 in the Social Hall of Nazareth Presbyterian Church followed by a graveside service at 3:00pm in the Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her memory.
Please remember our Mom, “Lou-Lee” as she was to her grandchildren in life- an actress, a friend, and a vibrant spirit who brought joy and beauty into the world. Do not mourn her passing, for as she reminded us until the end, “God is with us.”
In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the Spartanburg Little Theater https://spartanburglittletheatre.com/contribute/
