Frederick Walter Blakeley

Lyman, SC- Frederick Walter Blakeley, 89, husband of Jean Marion Humeston Blakeley, died Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born June 17, 1931 in Staten Island, NY, Fred was a son of the late George Archibald and Rosa Catherine Schreyer Blakeley. Fred served his country for four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and, in 1954, he received an honorable discharge. He graduated with honors from Western Connecticut State University in 1957 with an Associates of Science degree in Electronics. He was employed as an electronic technician by Barden’s Corporation (Danbury, CT) for 43 years and retired in 2000. After residing in Connecticut, with his wife and family for 50 years, in 2005, he and his wife moved to South Carolina. In addition to his loving wife of 67 years, Jean, Fred is survived by his four children: David Blakeley, Daniel Blakeley, Douglas Blakeley, and Donna Phoebus Blakeley; 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30th, 1:00PM Viewing, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
