Gasvy Edward “Eddie” Phillips, III

Greenville, MS – Gasvy Edward “Eddie” Phillips, III, husband of Gail Ragland Phillips, died Monday, May 4, 2021, with his wife and children by his side.
Eddie was born in Spartanburg, the son of Carolyn Miller Powell and the late Gasvy Edward Phillips, Jr. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Eddie was a graduate of Dorman High School, Class of 1972. He was a paramedic and volunteer with Arcadia Fire Department. Eddie graduated from Louisiana Tech University, Cum Laude with a degree in Computer Science. He faithfully served his country for 20 years in the US Airforce, retiring as a Master Chief. Eddie has received the “Angel among us” award from the city of Greenville, MS, served on the Board of St. Vincent DePaul Feeding Ministry and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and a former teacher of religion and mathematics at St. Joseph Catholic School. Eddie worked at South Delta Planning & Development District as Information Technology Director, as well as, Supervisor of Adult Protective Services. While he lived and travelled in the world, Eddie loved his family and God, serving his country and community in all areas.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by children, Amanda Joyce Phillips (Bryan) of Miami, Fl, Aaron Edward Phillips (Bianca) of Crown Point, IN, Michael Tracy Ragland of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Braxton 7, Brenna 7, Gasvy 1; brother, Randy Guy Miller (Jane) of Doylestown, PA; sister, Jan Phillips Harvey (Brian) of Spartanburg, SC; many nieces and nephews of SC and PA who greatly loved and enjoyed him.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Samuel Guy and Gladys Smith Miller.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 7:00PM on Friday, May 7, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greenville, MS.
Requiem Mass services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greenville, MS. Livestream of the service will begin at 10:45am at www.stjosephgreenville.org
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School; 1501 VFW Rd., Greenville, MS 38701.
By Eddie’s faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of his character in life, love, kindness, joy, courage, slow to speak, humble, full of life, peacemaker, and full of the Holy Spirt, his final resting place will be Heaven.
