Spartanburg, SC- Gayle Robbins Moore, 79, wife of James “Jim” F. Moore, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
Born April 12, 1943 in Spartanburg, SC, Gayle was a daughter of the late Howard T. Robbins and Mary Louise Crocker Robbins.
Gayle retired in 2008 from Brown & Brown Insurance after 32 years, beginning as an office receptionist and retiring as Operations’ Manager. She was Secretary/Treasurer of the Spartanburg Rotary Club for many years. Gayle was extremely active her entire life in church work as pianist, choir member, Sunday School teacher, mentor and disciple leader.
In addition to her husband, Jim, Gayle is survived by her daughters: Melanie (Mark) Roberts of Williamston, SC and Kelly (Chris) Byrd of Inman, SC, as well as step-sons Christopher (Kady) Moore of Boiling Springs, SC, Patrick (Jennifer) Moore of Travelers Rest, SC, and Nicholas Moore of Simpsonville, SC. She had 10 grand-children and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: Fred (Janet) Robbins of Inman and John A. (Connie) Robbins of Columbia, SC.
She was predeceased by a son, Jody Morgan; and sister, JoAnne Martin.
Gayle was a true friend and was blessed by the friendship of many over her lifetime.
She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was a teacher of life lessons, but her greatest life lesson, taught to all who knew her, was not how to live, but how to die – with grace, faith, and dignity.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 26th, 4:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Mark Roberts.
The family will receive friends following the service.
