Gloria Troublefield Gordon, 82, wife of Brian G. Gordon, died Saturday, February 1, 2025, at home.
Born January 20, 1943 in Blacksburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” E. Troublefield and Margaret “Mott” E. Troublefield. She was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music Education from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. She retired as a permanent substitute at Dutch Fork High School. She was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Spartanburg.
Gloria was an active member of the Heart of Columbia Chorus of Sweet Adelines, International. She won several awards throughout her almost 50 years with the organization, including a first-place regional quartet medal and an International chorus championship. She was a director, coach, mentor, friend, and wonderful singer.
She is survived by her husband, Brian G. Gordon; her brother, W. Ed (Trudy) Troublefield of Greenwood; her children, Greg (Brenda), Tod, Sarah, and Alan (Cyndi) Gordon, all of California, Joel Gordon (Tessa) of Virginia, and Jennifer (Allen Parks) of Campobello; nineteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
An informal Celebration of Life will be 4:30-5:30pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a music-related charity that is meaningful to you.
