Grace Elvira Edge Chesney, passed away on January 12th, 2024, at the age of 90. Elvira was born on May 20th, 1933, to the late Mattie Ola Lancaster and William Leo Edge. She was the widow of the late Everett A. Chesney. For over 50 years, Elvira was an active and dedicated member of Croft Baptist Church. Her contributions included serving as treasurer, participating in the choir, chaperoning youth activities, and being an integral part of the Joy Club. A graduate of Fairforest High School, Elvira worked for years as an administrative assistant, was a master seamstress, and a gifted gardener who could make anything flourish. Known for her warm and welcoming heart, Elvira was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who prioritized keeping her family together. She loved everyone deeply and exemplified each of the Fruits of the Spirit. Her home was always open to friends and family, a testament of her love and service to the Lord. Elvira is survived by her daughter, Melody Owens (Gary) of Wellford, S.C., and a host of grandchildren: Amy Smith (Travis), Christopher Owens (Callie), Timothy Page (Erin), Kenzie Rogers (Josh), Amanda Barbour Ashley), Lauren Chesney, Lyndsey Lambert (Bryant), and Jonathan Adams (Kacie). A son-in-law, Ken Page (Suzanne). Additionally, she leaves behind twenty great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Page, a son, Ron Chesney, and three sisters, Arbutus Trail, Naomi Anderson, and Blanche Campbell. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024, at 2:30 P.M., at the J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 1:30 P.M. The service will be conducted by Travis Smith. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Elvira may be made to “The Playground Fund” at Inman Mills Baptist, 22 B Street, Inman, S.C. 29349.
