Spartanburg, SC- Hannah Elizabeth Stewart Ashley, 78, wife of Marshall D. Ashley, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Born January 29, 1940 in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Madge Rollins Stewart. Hannah was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a kind, gentle soul and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Robert Miles Pope, Jr. (Karen); two daughters, Robyn Michelle Pope Short and Stacy Nicole Pope Tinsley (Nolen); grandchildren, Brittany Leigh Lawing, Nicholaus Chandler Lawing, Megan Brooke Hawkins (Emilio), Joshua James Halford, Morganne Lynne Nelson, Robert Matthew Pope, Andrea Kayla Bush, Kourtney Paulette Jones, Katlin Jodie Jones, John Matthew Tinsley, Lauren Denise Tinsley, Elijah Clayton Short, and Robert Colton Short; great grandchildren, Kalynn Grace Directo, Damon Carter Lawing, Anna Lynn Michelle Lawing, Sadie Kate Seagraves, Liam Ayden Pope, and Easton Paul Seagraves. Hannah was predeceased by a daughter, Kim Elizabeth Pope Halford; and granddaughter, Nicole Elizabeth Halford. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 17th, 12:30-2:00PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00PM, officiated by Reverend Mike Shackelford. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 415 S. Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
