Spartanburg, SC- Harley Woodrow Hutchins, Jr., 70, entered into his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
Born December 15, 1950 in High Point, NC, he was a son of the late Harley Woodrow Hutchins, Sr. and Geneva Watkins Hutchins. Mr. Hutchins was a graduate of Spartanburg High School. He worked as an Energy Management Specialist at Spartan Foods before starting his own electrical contracting company, H&H Commercial Electric. He was a member of East Spartanburg Church of God, where he served as a former church clerk, member of the Pastor’s Council, and was always available when needed.
Mr. Hutchins was a loving husband, father, and the best Papa ever to his grandchildren.
He was first married to Dawn Ridgeway Richard, and to this union he was given three children, Reverend Michael Hutchins (Claudia) of Pacolet, SC, Kimberly Thompson (William) of Spartanburg, SC and Stephen Hutchins. He is also survived by his wife of 16 years, Brenda Burrell Shearsmith. Other survivors include his five grandchildren, Justin Thompson, Lauren Roberts, Caroline Hutchins, Madison Hutchins, and Elisabeth Crocker; three siblings, Jenny Willis (Bobby), John Hutchins (Trina), and Annette Boan (Tim); and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 8th, 2:15 until 3:00PM at East Spartanburg Church of God. Funeral services will follow at 3:00PM conducted by Reverend James Locklair and the Reverend Clint Starnes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Spartanburg Church of God, Building Fund or to Bethlehem Baptist Church, Food Pantry.
