Spartanburg, SC- Henry Thomas, Jr., 64, husband of Denise Ladebauche Thomas, left his human presence to be with his Savior on Saturday, March 17, 2018 after a fierce battle with cancer. Born March 10, 1954 in Fort Jackson, SC, Henry was the son of the late Henry Thomas, Sr. and Katie Evelyn Thomas. Henry attended Spartanburg High School, University of South Carolina, and remained loyal to the Gamecocks. Henry’s strength, demanding character, precision, and vision allowed him to excel as a General Contractor and Residential Home Builder in North and South Carolina. During the latter part of his career, he found his niche and solid reputation building custom lake and mountain homes in the Mill Spring-Lake Adger Community. He was an avid golfer. Henry was a fierce and clever competitor known as “Champ” to his golfing peers. He won numerous club and amateur championships. Henry was most proud of his family. He was devoted to his wife, Denise, and their two children. He was the heart of his family. Henry inspired a strong work ethic, a love of sports, and an appreciation of music. He cherished being “Papa” to his name sake, Henry Caleb, and experienced the joy of the birth of his granddaughter, Ella Grace, the day before his death. In addition to his wife of 38 years, Henry is survived by his son, Jesse Thomas (Taylor Hart), and their daughter, Ella Grace of Pauline, SC; his daughter, Katie Rush (Andrew), and their son, Henry, of Spartanburg, SC; and his loving sister, Cindy Despard (Terry) of Whitestone, SC. Henry had multiple friends, too many to mention, who, like family, were a great comfort and joy to him during his mortal life. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 20th, 4-6PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21st, 11:00AM at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
