H. G. “Speed” Harrison Pauline_ H. G. “Speed” Harrison, 89, husband of Evelyn Littlefield Harrison, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, peacefully, at home, with his family by his side, on December 6, 2017. Speed was born on July 12, 1928, in the Walnut Grove Community of Spartanburg, SC, to the late Lawrence H. and Lula Thomas Harrison. Speed owned and operated H G Harrison’s Grocery in Walnut Grove for 38 years. After retiring from his grocery store, he worked for Landford-Pollard and Dunbar Funeral Homes for 12 years. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church. Speed is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Evelyn and two sons, James Keith Harrison (Becky) of Florence, SC and Paul Howard Harrison (Denise) of Pine Bush, NY. He is survived by grandchildren; Rachel (Ryan) Hudson, Elizabeth (Damien) Craft, Joshua (Kayla) Harrison, Deborah (David) Budler, Sarah Harrison and Valarie Harrison; and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister; Betty Newman of Walnut Grove; and many nieces and nephews. Speed was predeceased by 7 brothers and 5 sisters. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Teresa Pearson for her loving care and dedication to our family. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Following, there will be a worship memorial service in the church sanctuary at 11:00 AM, conducted by Reverend Richard Thomas and Reverend Kevin Harrison. The family will receive friends after the worship service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Presbyterian Church Building Fund; 1399 Walnut Grove Rd., Roebuck, SC 29376 and to Hospice Care of South Carolina.
