Hobson Wayne Hornbuckle

Hobson “Wayne” Hornbuckle, Sr. of Moore, SC passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the age of 85. He was born in Bessemer, AL on October 24, 1938 to the late Hayne and Grace Blake Hornbuckle. 

Wayne graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in building construction. He went on to become the Chief Estimator for Beers Skanska Inc., one of the largest commercial construction companies in the world.

A man of great values, he was truly a wonderful role-model for his children and grandchildren. Wayne was extremely kind, loving, and generous to everyone he met. He was a devoted husband, caring father, and doting grandfather. 

He leaves behind his wife, Phoebe Love Williamson Hornbuckle; sons, Hobson “Hob” Wayne Hornbuckle, Jr. (Sondra) of Roebuck, SC and Harrison “Blake” Hornbuckle (Rebecca) of Collegeville, PA; grandchildren, Kristen, Noah, Caleb, Eli, Daniel, Anna Grace, and Ella Hornbuckle; and sister-in-law, Kathy Hornbuckle of Cullman, AL. Along with his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his younger brother, Larry D. Hornbuckle.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376, conducted by Rev. Richard Smith. Visitation will follow.

Burial will be 2:00pm on Sunday, July 28, 2024 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084.
