Ines Anna Scagliarini Bottone, beloved Mother and Grandmother of Spartanburg, SC, formerly of Aventura, FL and Randolph, NJ, passed away surrounded by her family, January 29, 2023.
She was born on January 18, 1930, in San Giovanni di Persiceto, Italy and grew up in Decima and Bologna, Italy. She was a WWII survivor. Mrs. Bottone was a graduate of the University of Bologna, La Scuola Della Belle Arte in Bologna, Italy, where she studied Art and Art History under her Professor Renaldo Graciosi and earned a teaching degree in the discipline. Employed as a model and designer for Monti Knits in Northern Italy she designed, manufactured, and modeled the first bikini worn on the beaches of Italy. Crowned Miss Europa 1951 and featured on several post cards she also designed and hand painted ceramics in Bologna. Her skills as a gourmet chef for her family will be missed.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alfredo Bruno Scagliarini and Zelia (Cleolia) Capponcelli Scagliarini; her husband of sixty years, the late Dr. Francis Paul Bottone, MD; and by her brothers, Antonio, Angelo and Vittorio Scagliarini of Bologna, Italy. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Angela Maria Bottone Randazzo and her son in-law, Patrick Anthony Randazzo of Randolph, New Jersey, and Dr. Susan Marie Bottone Boscia, MD and her son in-law, Dr. Joseph Anthony Boscia III, MD; and their children, Joseph Anthony Boscia IV, Alyssa Christina Boscia and Francis Paul Boscia, of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Also surviving is her cherished sister, Emilia Scagliarini Ragno of Pianoro, Bologna, Italy.
Mrs. Bottone was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Spartanburg, SC. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
