Jack Raymond Thompson Moore - Jack Raymond Thompson, age 92, husband of Nancy Turner Thompson, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born November 15, 1924, in Buffalo, SC, he was the son of the late Arthur Eugene and Blanche McAbee Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jack attended Wofford College and was a retired US Army 1st Sergeant and a veteran of World War II serving under General Patton in the 10th armored division during the Battle of the Bulge. He also served during the Vietnam War. Jack served 23 years retiring in 1978. He also owned and operated Thompson Appliance. Jack was a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Wanda Bissell (Lanny), Keith Thompson (Victoria), and Jeff Thompson (Karen); three step-children, Tommy Brock (Deborah), Patti Hardy (Fred), and Jay Brock (Candy). He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one on the way. Jack was predeceased by his first wife, Alice E. Thompson; his sister, Mary McAlister; and his brother, William Arthur Thompson. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00AM at Heritage Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
