James Larry Alverson

James Larry Alverson Woodruff, SC- James Larry Alverson, 75, husband of Emma May Collins Alverson, died Monday, August 5, 2019 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born November 5, 1943 in Spartanburg, SC, Larry was the son of the late Zarah Dean and Mary Juanita Morrow Alverson. He was employed with WSPA for 30 years and retired as manager of WSPA AM/FM Radio. Larry was a member and former President of the Executive Sertoma Club. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his daughter, Dr. Leigh Ledford and her husband, Larry, of Simpsonville, SC; and three grandchildren, Seth, Drew, and Elise Ledford. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 10th, 10-11AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11AM, officiated by Reverend Larry Ledford. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boys Farm, P O Box 713, Newberry, SC 29108.
