Pacolet, SC- James Corbett Cochran, Jr., 94, husband of Helen Lucille Coleman Cochran for 74 years, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Born November 1, 1926 in Blackshear, GA, Jimmy was a son of the late James Corbett and Doris Shaw Cochran. He honorably served his country in the US Navy during WWII and retired from the Spartanburg Herald Journal after 35 years of service. He was very proud of his country and his service. JC, as he was known by most, was an avid model airplane enthusiast and loved flying with his friends at The Spartanburg Sky Knights Club. He had also been a certified pilot in his earlier years. He was an avid boater and enjoyed warm days on Lake Greenwood. JC was a caring and compassionate man who loved his family. He taught his grandsons patience and the love for the outdoors. In addition to his wife, Helen, James is survived by his daughter, Marie High, grandsons Jeffrey (Darla) and Jason (Julie) High, and a special nephew Lewis Coleman (Lu). He also had four grandchildren who he was very proud of: Anna, Coleman, William, and Hayes High. A private burial will be held in Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery. Donations can be made in his honor to Spartanburg Regional Hospice who provided excellent care.
