James Ansel Jacobs

July 4, 1945 — December 27, 2022

James Ansel Jacobs died Tuesday morning at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House after a sudden illness. 

He was born in Robeson County, NC on July 4th, 1945 and was predeceased by parents, Mildred L Jacobs and James A Jacobs, Sr.; sisters, Audrey Snipes, Edith Davis, and Joyce Hunt. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda Pierce Jacobs, whom he loved dearly; two sons, Torrey (Tracy) and Patrick (Erica); granddaughters, Hallie Worrell (Nick) and Maddie Jacobs; two grandsons, Hayden Jacobs (Keira) of Charleston and Garrett Jacobs of Spartanburg; and great grandson, Josiah Jacobs of Charleston; brother, Ron Jacobs (Cecy) of Spartanburg; and also several nieces and nephews.

He was a 1968 graduate of Wofford College and worked for Milliken and Company for 42 years and ultimately retired in 2009. He held several positions at Milliken over the years with his last being within the Apparel Division where he dealt with trade law within the Caribbean basin. After retirement he enjoyed pier fishing, Alabama football, and playing golf with the senior men at Carolina Country Club. 

He loved being with family and especially with his grandchildren. He leaves a legacy as a trusting and loyal husband, father, and friend. 

The family will receive friends Friday, December 30th, 1:30PM until 2:15PM at Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. A funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 2:30PM, conducted by his grandson, Pastor Hayden Jacobs.

A private burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
