James Carl Lewis

Spartanburg, SC- James “Pee Wee” or “Tootsie” Carl Lewis, 85, husband of Juanita Wood Lewis, died Monday, May 31, 2021. Born November 5, 1935 in Spartanburg, SC, James was a son of the late Roland Anthony and Mattie Satterfield Lewis. He was a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg, a former member of Arkwright Baptist Church, and a lifelong carpenter. James will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and papa. In addition to his wife, Juanita, he is survived by a son, Carl Lewis (Elizabeth) of Spartanburg, SC; daughters, Merri Caldwell (Ricky) of Roebuck, SC and Lee Sturgill (Chris) of Moore, SC; grandchildren, Darren Caldwell (Kortney), Kyle Caldwell (Breanna), CJ Sturgill, and Aaron Sturgill; special friends, Don & Scott Watson; and special niece and nephew, Judy Sellars and Ricky Lewis. He was predeceased by brothers, Raymond, Herman, Arlin, and Roland Lewis, Jr. Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 3rd, 11:00AM in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Reverend Sal Barone.
