Jan Lee Whitehurst

Tryon, NC – Jan Lee Whitehurst, 80, husband of Mary Clifford Whitehurst, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Jan was born in Blakely, GA on October 1, 1937 to the late Roy Lee and Dena Turner Whitehurst. He attended The University of Georgia and retired from General Mills after 30 years of service. Jan was a member of Green Creek Hounds and an avid Georgia Football fan. He was of the Presbyterian faith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Lee Whitehurst (Angela) of Tryon, NC; two daughters, Kim Whitehurst of Tryon, NC, Amy Whitehurst King (David) of Columbia, SC; and a sister, Judy Leah W. Lacy of Orlando, FL. Jan was blessed with three grandchildren, Emma Isabella Whitehurst, David Alan King, Jr. and Mary Cecil King. He was predeceased by a brother, Roy Onley Whitehurst, and a sister, Damaris W. Patterson. A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens; 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 156 Milestone Way A, Greenville, SC 29615, or the charity of one’s choice.
