Jane Elizabeth McKenzie, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, at the age of 74, after a long illness with MS. Born on June 15, 1950, in Amityville, New York, Jane was the cherished daughter of James McKenzie Jr. and Marjorie Weir McKenzie. She grew up in a loving household that laid the foundation for her warm and compassionate nature.

Jane's early education began in the vibrant community of Bristol, Tennessee, where she graduated from Bristol Tennessee High School in 1968. Following her passion for learning, she attended Virginia Intermont College, graduating in 1971. These formative years were filled with experiences that shaped her into the remarkable woman she would become, instilling in her a love for education and lifelong learning.

After completing her studies, Jane embarked on a fulfilling career at Eastman Chemical in Kingsport, Tennessee, where she dedicated over three decades of her life until her retirement in 2002. Colleagues remember her not only for her professionalism but also for her kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. Jane’s work ethic and dedication to her job left a lasting impact on many who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Following her retirement, Jane relocated to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she became a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church community. Her faith was a cornerstone in her life, and she devoted herself to serving others, sharing her love and kindness with everyone around her. Jane's family was the greatest joy of her life.

She is preceded in death by her beloved sibling, James Bruce McKenzie and Heather Elizabeth McKenzie a beloved niece. Jane is survived by her loving brother, Douglas McKenzie (Kathie), and her cherished nieces and nephews, including James McKenzie, Megan Bishop (Josh), Lillian McKenzie, Michaela McKenzie, Caleb Bishop, Kirk Bishop, and Malachi Bishop. Each of them carries forward Jane’s legacy, filled with the love and warmth she bestowed upon them.

Jane's interests were simple yet profound; she loved her family fiercely and dedicated her life to nurturing those relationships.

Jane's final resting place will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol, Tennessee, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jane’s name to the MS Society, an organization close to her heart.

As we remember Jane Elizabeth McKenzie, let us celebrate a life filled with love, kindness, and generosity. Her spirit will continue to shine through the lives she touched, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Renee and Tish with Interim Hospice.
