Janet Kay Brown was born in Decatur, Indiana on August 19, 1950 to Carl Francis Brown and Doris Katherine McBarnes. Her small family moved to New Port Richey, Florida where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Here she met and married Jerry Dean Morriss. Later, Janet became a Registered Nurse and served as the nurse supervisor over the coronary and progressive coronary units.
She is survived by her five children: Christy Lynn Morriss Park, Jeremy Alan Morriss, Courtney Dawn Morriss Gorden, Carrie Michelle Morriss Johansen and Kelley Marie Morriss Cutler and 12 very special grandchildren: Makayla, Natalie and Carter Morriss; Wesley and Rhys Gordon; Shayla, Ellie, Lillian, Macy and Ephraim Johansen; Jace and Claire Cutler. Jerry and Janet joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on March 27, 1980. They were sealed together in the Washington DC temple on May 26, 1981.
Janet was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her entire life was filled with service. She shared herself freely and with everyone. She could somehow sense when someone needed a kind word, a phone call, a meal or some other selfless act of service. She magnified every calling or assignment she was given by her church leaders and truly magnified the measure of her creation. She was an obedient child of God, a child of the covenant and disciple of Jesus Christ.
On March 23, 2024 her spirit was released to paradise while her body remained behind awaiting a glorious resurrection. She was asked to endure trials that would break most people. But she endured well through it all.
Services will be announced.
