Janie Harden Lay

Janie Harden Lay Pauline – Janie Harden Lay, 93, wife of the late James P. Lay, died Friday, February 5, 2021. Janie was born on August 29, 1927 to the late John Lewis and Bertha Hall Harden. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Janie retired from JP Stevens after 40 years of service and was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Mitchell (Ed) of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, Barry Mitchell (Leah), Brent Mitchell (Joan), Bart Mitchell (Jody), Melissa Lay, Christopher Lay (Amy), Jennifer White (Michael); eleven great-grandchildren; and one great greatgrandchild. Janie was predeceased by her son, Jim Lay; and a granddaughter, Jessica Lay. A private family funeral service will be held at Rainbow Baptist Church; 151 Short Cut Rd., Chesnee, SC 29323 officiated by Reverend Bart Mitchell. A graveside committal service will be held at 3:30PM, Monday, February 8, 2021 at Oconee Memorial Park; 1923 Blue Ridge Blvd, Seneca, SC 29672.
