Spartanburg, SC- Jean Ivey, 88, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, after battling a long-term illness. Born January 26, 1933 in Cherokee County, Jean was the daughter of the late Liston and Annie Mae McCullough Lee. She did interior design for Bobby Ivey Construction and Realty Company. Jean was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg where she sang in the choir for multiple years. She was heavily involved in supporting her grandchildren’s sporting activities from their early childhood through their college years. Jean was a 50-year supporter of Wofford College Athletics and she was known as the player’s mother away from home. Jean had a charismatic personality where she could and would talk to anybody and everybody everywhere she went. She never met a stranger. Jean impacted lives in a positive way whether you were young or old. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert “Bobby” G. Ivey, Sr.; brothers, Bobby, Charles and Randy; and sisters, Evelyn Garner and Frances Wycoff. Jean is survived by her son, Dr. Robert “Robin” G. Ivey, Jr. and wife, Crystal; her daughter, Lee Ann Ivey Greene and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Robert “Rob” Greene and wife, Ellie, Carolyne Greene Martin and husband, Nate; brothers, Johnston and Jerry “JB” Lee; and sisters, Ann Newton and Mary Smith. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 5, 2021, 1:00-1:45PM at First Baptist Spartanburg. Funeral Services to follow at 2PM, officiated by Dr. Don Wilton. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Reverend Sal Barone.
