Jeffrey Scott Young

Jeffrey Scott Young, 61, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. Born February 28, 1962, he was a son of the late Charles Raymond and Evelyn Ketner Young. A graduate of Dorman High School class of 1980, Scott went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of South Carolina Spartanburg. He worked as a residential home appraiser for Young Appraisal Services for 20 years. Scott then opened his own appraisal company, Southern Home Appraisals, in 2023. Scott was a long-time member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church before joining First Baptist Spartanburg. He was a dedicated Christian, and served at the Spartanburg Miracle Hill Rescue Mission and the Greer Soup Kitchen for over 20 years. He also cared deeply for his family and enjoyed hunting with his son and grandson, fishing with his children and grandchildren, metal detecting and looking for sharks teeth on the beach, going on fossil digs with his daughters, and attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Kay Worthy Young; children, Jeffrey Lee Young (Stephanie), Caroline Nicole Foss (David), and Hope Makayla Young; grandchildren, Luke Andrew Young, Natalie Olivia Young, and Grayson Taylor Young; and brothers, Alan Todd Young and Charles R. Young, II (Tracy). Visitation will be 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, December 9, 2023 in the First Baptist Spartanburg Parlor, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm in the First Baptist Spartanburg Davis Chapel, conducted by The Rev. Sal Barone.
