Jena Felmet Hughes

Moore, SC- Jena Felmet Hughes, 69, wife of James Earl Hughes, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born April 30, 1954 in Asheville, NC, Jena was a daughter of the late Hubert Woodrow “Lightening” Felmet and Edith Gregory Felmet. 

Jena may have been tiny in stature, but had a larger than life personality that lit up everyone’s world. For nearly 40 years, she worked at various banks in town, making friendships and connections that lasted beyond her retirement. Jena was a classy lady, known for her red lipstick, who loved shopping, her cocker spaniels, some good light-hearted gossip, and any time spent on the beach at Hilton Head.

Her family will remember her as a beloved mother, a cherished “Na-Na”, a loving wife, and selfless friend.

In addition to her husband, James, Jena is survived by her daughter, Brooke Hughes- Schenck and her husband, Aaron, and their children, Benson Gregory Hughes and Caleb Schenck; her stepchildren, Shannon Hughes, Shawn Zill, and Michelle Yopp; her brother, Bruce Woodrow Felmet; and a sister, Johnnie Felmet Durham.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 12th, 2:00PM at Dunbar Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
