Jesse Dean Simmons, III

Jesse Dean Simmons III, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Born in Spartanburg on September 15, 1952, Dean was the son of the late Jesse Dean “JD” Simmons, Jr. and Margaret Martha “Peggy” Dunn Simmons.

Dean attended Spartanburg School District 6, was a graduate of Dorman High School class of 1970, attended Spartanburg Junior College and was a 1974 graduate of Limestone College. He started his career teaching at Dorman High School. He then became a licensed baccalaureate social worker at Spartanburg Regional Hospital and Carolina Center for Behavioral Health in Greer.

Dean enjoyed traveling, art, music, nice clothes, good food and the many Corvettes he owned over his lifetime. He was a member of Forest View Masonic Lodge 379 and a Shriner. He was of the Baptist faith, he loved Jesus, and his family. He was especially proud of his nieces and nephews. 

Dean’s ability to speak was taken by a stroke. He smiled, waved or patted you to let you know he was happy to see you.

He is survived by his sister, Brenda Simmons Beason (John) of Crouse, NC; nieces, Melissa Beason Vacek (Greg) of Concord, NC and Allison Beason Harris (Kevin) of Harrisburg, NC; nephews, Aaron Beason of Washington, DC and Adam Beason (Mandy) of Dallas, TX; step-brother, Wally Gregory; and six great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 PM on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, 117 Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
