Spartanburg, SC- Joanna Ruth Bell, 32, completed her earthly journey and ran into the arms of her Lord & Savior on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.
Born May 28, 1990 in Fort Worth, TX, Joanna was a daughter of Dr. Richard Alan Bell and Beverly Honeycutt Bell. She grew up a missionary kid in Egypt and Croatia. By God’s grace, she became a follower of Christ in 2002. Joanna attended high school at a Christian boarding school in Germany and then attended Spurgeon College, and obtained her BA in cross-cultural studies with a focus on Christian Ministry at Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. During college, Joanna participated in, and led, 4-month missionary trips to India, Peru, and Russia. More recently, Joanna has been living in Spartanburg, SC working as a veterinary assistant for her father’s veterinary practice.
One of our favorite things about “Jo” was her tenacity….she was always up for a challenge.Which is why we’re sure Jesus must’ve said to her “well done, my good and faithful servant” when she ran to His arms and gave him one of her famous tight hugs. She was a very purposeful person. She was someone that found purpose in living for others rather than finding her happiness in the temporary things of this world.
In addition to her parents, Joanna is survived by her sister, Deborah Bell; and her brother, Joel Bell and his wife, Katie.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 15th, 6-8PM at Dunbar Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16th, 11:00AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiated by Reverend Steve Wise. A reception will follow.
Burial will be private.
In remembrance of Joanna, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, memorial fund, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or to the WMU Foundation, a foundation providing scholarships to Southern Baptist missionary kids pursuing mission work in the US and across the world, www.WMUFoundation.com.
