Jonathan "Jon" Muscalo of Moore, SC passed away September 24, 2024 at the age of 77. He was born September 4, 1947 in Lockport, NY to the late Florence Licata and Bruno Muscalo. He is survived by a beloved brother, David (Andrea) Muscalo and his special golden retriever "Maud'Dib", that Jon would often say "he's not my dog, I'm his human".
Jon was a member of Church at the Mill, where he was saved and baptized in 2019. He spoke fondly of growing up in upstate NY with a mom that was the greatest of all Italian cooks and a father whose work ethic he tried to emulate. He would tell a story of his childhood dog, Cookie, following him to school and waiting there all day to walk home together.
Early in his career, he worked in Alabama where he also attended University of Alabama at Birmingham. His career spanned over 50 years, bringing him to Spartanburg in 1989 to work with Volume Services America, later with Centerplate, and eventually with Legends Hospitality Management. His work involved planning, designing, and the construction of facilities inside stadiums, arenas, and concert venues across the country including Yankee Stadium, The Dallas Cowboys Stadium, and One World Trade Center. Jon was known for his pursuit of perfection, attention to detail, and appreciation of a job well done. Among his peers he was considered to be the best in the industry.
Jon enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, dining out with friends, talking baseball history, talking cars, and reminiscing about old times and old friends, but was the most at peace sitting on his deck with Maud'Dib looking out over his beautiful yard and pond.
Thanks to all that cared for Jon in his last few years, especially the LVAD Clinic, their staff and doctors, also Sally O'Shields, Kevin Austin, Kit Edwards, Kathy and Ray Hathcock.
Jon was laid to rest October 11, 2024 in Lockport beside his parents. There will be a celebration of his life Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 3:00pm at Church at the Mill, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369.
Jon donated to many charities including The American Heart Association and Spartanburg Humane Society. In lieu of flowers, donations to one of these charities would be appreciated.
Rest in peace Jon, you were love and respected, you will be missed by all that knew you.
