Joseph Francis Amons

Joseph Amons, 68, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away on September 3, 2023, at his home. Joe was born on March 24, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was raised by his father, Richard Amons. He began work at Progress Lighting of Philadelphia in 1972. On December 8, 1979, he married Donna Amons in Gibbsboro, New Jersey. They welcomed a daughter in 1988 and a son in 1990. The family relocated to Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1994. Joe worked as an engineer and in multiple roles at Progress Lighting and Hubbell Lighting for more than 37 years. He was an avid consumer of current events and enjoyed spending time with family and friends outdoors in his serene backyard, which he referred to as “paradise.” Joe will be remembered for his strong work ethic, integrity, and loving devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife, Donna Amons, his daughter, Mallory Goodrich and husband William of Mansfield, Texas, his son, Marc Amons and wife Madison of Houston, Texas, and his grandchildren, Samantha Goodrich and James Amons. A visitation will be held J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023 in Spartanburg, South Carolina with a service to follow at 4:00 pm.
