Joseph Franklin Lawrence, 89, of Boiling Springs, SC passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was born in Spartanburg, SC on February 5, 1935 to the late Andrew Jackson Lawrence, Sr. and Ruth Tillotson Lawrence.
After graduating from Boiling Springs High School, Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy and was released following basic training due to a medical condition. Joseph then went to work for Kohler Company, working his way up to eventually retire in Quality Control. He was part of the Kohler team for over 40 years. He was also a lifelong devoted member of First Baptist Church of Valley Falls where he served as Sunday School teacher, Music Director, Deacon, and Custodian.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 68 years, Joy Radford Lawrence; children, Gregory Lawrence and Lisa Brown (Rigby); along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Monty Tillotson, Jack Lawrence, and Billy Lawrence; and sisters, Edna Hughes and Betty Ashcraft.
Visitation will be 10:00-10:45am on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Valley Falls, 8352 Valley Falls Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the sanctuary, conducted by Rev. Roger Gosnell and Rev. Gary Adkins. Burial will immediately follow the services in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
In honor of Joseph, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Valley Falls or Spartanburg Regional Hospice.
