Joyce Elaine Bennett

Joyce Elaine Bennett of Landrum, SC passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the age of 79. She was born in Spartanburg, SC on July 18, 1945 to the late O’Neal and Sybil Taylor Martin. 

A graduate of Roebuck High School, Elaine played basketball during her school years. Even after graduation Elaine loved sports and played on different softball teams in the area. She was also skilled with repairs, and especially handy when it came to fixing computers.

Elaine took great joy in gardening, and she loved cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. A devoted and God-fearing woman, Elaine was a proud member of Southport Church, where her faith was a guiding light in her life. She cherished her church family and found great joy in worship and fellowship. For over 20 years, Elaine was an independent Mary Kay consultant, bringing beauty and confidence to so many. 

Above all else, Elaine was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them. She was a caring, friendly soul who loved everyone she met, and in return, was deeply loved by all who knew her. 

She leaves behind her children, Larry Alexander Bennett II (Lynn) of Bluffton, SC, Angela Bennett Brown (Franklin) of Columbus, NC, and Dwight Michael Benett (Brande) of Landrum, SC; grandchildren, Logan Bennett, Alexis Bennett, Sophia Bennett, Abigayl Gorham, and Alyvia Gorham; brothers, Alan Martin (Kim) and David Martin; and sister, Vicki Montjoy (Johnny). Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Larry Alexander Bennett, Sr; grandson, Dwight Alexander Bennett; sister, Joy Martin; and adopted mother, Jewel Martin, who raised her.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:45am on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at J. M. Dunbar Funeral Home, 690 Southport Road, Roebuck, SC 29376. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the chapel, conducted by Rev. James Blackwood. Interment in Sunset Memorial Park will immediately follow the services.
