Joyce Faye Johnson Hawkins

Joyce Faye Johnson Hawkins, 87, of Gramling, SC, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024. She was born on March 22, 1937, the cherished only child of the late Robert Lee and Mamie Smith Johnson. Joyce was married to Leonard Hawkins for 41 years, until his passing in 1995.

A proud graduate of Byrnes High School, Joyce was an exceptional artist, photographer, and cook. She had a green thumb and loved tending her garden, growing beautiful flowers. Joyce also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

Joyce was very social and adventurous. Her love for travel took her all over the world. As a founding member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, Joyce was committed to her faith and was an active participant in church activities. She found great fulfillment in serving others, volunteering at the soup kitchen and Safe Homes Rape Crisis Coalition.

She is survived by her children, Lynn Hawkins of Gramling, SC, Michael Hawkins (Roxanne) of Green Pond, SC, Danica Fidler (Scott) of Monterey, TN, and Victor Hawkins of Belton, SC; grandchildren, Charity Mason (James), Lee Hawkins (Kae), and Michaela Tse; and great-grandchildren, Ruby, Kane, and Sophia.

Visitation will be 3:00-3:45pm on Friday, April 12, 2024 in the Chapel of Church at The Mill. Funeral services will follow at 4:00pm, conducted by Rev. DJ Horton and Rev. Grover Timms. Interment will immediately follow the services in Oak Grove Cemetery, 350 N. Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
