West Columbia, SC- Judith Bobo Hughes, 73, widow of Ronald Keith Hughes, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17. Born March 13, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Gus and Rachel Bobo. Judy graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1963, and earned her teaching degree attending Limestone and Spartanburg Methodist Colleges. As an educator she touched the lives of countless many; from her first teaching position with the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind, followed by many years with First Baptist Church School in Charleston, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, and Lexington, SC School Districts 1 and 2. She retired in 2007 due to illness. Many of her students and their families have kept in touch with her over the years. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Hughes Singletary; son in-law, Gene, and precious granddaughter, Lexi. Judy is also survived by her sister, Victoria Bobo McAninch; brother in-law, Henry; and the families of her five nephews and nieces, all which she dearly loved. She was predeceased by a sister, Christe Bobo Pettit. Judy’s family will be forever grateful for the compassion and faithfulness of her caregiver, Evelyn. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018, officiated by Reverend Dr. Kirk H. Neely.
