Judy Hopper Hill, 79, of Pacolet, SC passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. She was born in Spartanburg, SC on September 18, 1945 to the late Euel and Jessie Coats Hopper.
Judy, a lifelong member of Pacolet First Baptist Church, leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity. A true warrior in her battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), she fought to live life to the fullest as long as she could, never letting her illness dull her spirit.
Her family was her greatest joy, and her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Granny," were her heart. She cared deeply for everyone she knew, never meeting a stranger and always opening her heart to others. Judy had a passion for cooking and took great pride in preparing meals for her loved ones. She took great joy in caring for her weenie dogs, Penny, who passed before her, and Bunny. Her laughter was contagious, and she had an unmatched ability to bring joy to those around her.
Judy could shop all day and never tire, and her love for decorating, especially at Christmas, turned every holiday season into a magical celebration. Her happy place was Lake Greenwood, where she and Grady spent their summers making cherished memories.
She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, Grady Carson Hill; children, Freddy Hill (Jan) of Roebuck, SC, Donna Millard (Paul) of Munford, AL, Traci Bruce of Spartanburg, SC, Teri Camp (Rod) of Spartanburg, SC, and Toni Hill of Pacolet, SC. Judy is also survived by her grandsons, Andrew Bruce and Hunter Millard (Anna Brooke); granddaughters, Casey Hill, Kayla Sheronick (Aaron), Carley Camp, Kendall Camp, and Katie Fulgham; several beloved great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dianne Daniels (Leroy), Jackie Kirby, and Debbie Gooch (Lanny). Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Beth Cooper, and brothers-in-law, Bill Kirby and Bill Cooper.
Visitation will be 10:00-10:45am on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Pacolet First Baptist Church, 310 W Main St, Pacolet, SC 29372. Memorial services will follow at 11:00am, conducted by Rev. Tyler Ridings and Rev. Tommy Sparks.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff of Interim Healthcare, for their wonderful care of Judy.
In memory of Judy, contributions may be made to The Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, or to Pacolet First Baptist Church, 310 W Main St, Pacolet, SC 29372.
Judy’s caring and generous nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is gone, the strength she showed in her fight with IPF, battling it twice as long as her doctors expected, will live on in her family and friends.
