Judy Mahaffey Pettit

Judy Mahaffey Pettit, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at her daughters’ home in Florence County, SC. Born June 9, 1940 in Spartanburg, SC, Judy was a daughter of the late James P. and Ruth Boyd Mahaffy. Judy was a graduate of Fairforest High School in 1958. Judy was a retired Cosmetologist in the Beauty Industry in Spartanburg, SC. She was an avid bowler for over 50 years and in the South Carolina State Women Bowlers Association (WBA) Hall of Fame and Spartanburg City/County WBA Hall of Fame. She was also the past president of the SC State WBA. Judy is survived by her daughter, Traci P. Hubbard and her husband, Ty; grandchildren, Ashley Hilburn and her husband Tyler, Tyson Hubbard, IV and his wife Dannielle, Jay Pettit, Allyson Pettit, and Bailey Pettit; great grandchildren, Jada and Hazel Pettit, and Lucy Anne Hilburn. She was predeceased by her sons, Greg Pettit (2015), Tim Pettit (2017) and her husband Earl Dean Pettit (2019). A private memorial service will be held at Dunbar Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend John Cox. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
