Judy Kay Robbins

December 9, 1952 — April 8, 2025

This is the obituary that was never meant to be. Judith Livesay Robbins, 72, of Spartanburg, who passed away on Tuesday, April 8, after a short illness but long run of bad health, did not want a service or an obituary. Her surviving sisters, Susan Livesay Horton (and husband, Derek Horton) of Boiling Springs, SC, and Lori Livesay (and wife, Tanya Saul) of Marysville, WA, however, are defying her one last time (as younger sisters do) by offering the following tribute;

Judy is pre-deceased by her husband, Richard Jerome Robbins. She loved Ricky Robbins so much she married him not just once, but twice. The second time was a nearly 30-year affair of loving, laughing, fighting, making up, and then starting all over again. They had one son, RJ Robbins of Norway, SC, who survives them both.

Judy absolutely adored her nephews and nieces, Derek Horton, II, of Simpsonville, SC, Chuck Horton of Spartanburg, SC, Candace Horton of Spartanburg, SC, and Lauren Ballenger of Boiling Springs, SC. She lovingly taught each of them their first curse word.

For her entire life, Judy loved music, mysteries, and mayhem. Growing up she was an avid reader who would scare herself into a panic reading mysteries or watching scary movies late into the night. She also loved animals, all animals, although cats were her favorite. She rescued and loved many feline friends.

Judy was smart, wickedly funny, and unusually defiant, right from the start. She was often a challenge for her parents, Charles Allen Livesay and Shirley White Livesay of Spartanburg, SC, both deceased. They, like her entire family, however, loved her dearly.

We are going to miss you, Judy. We love you. Always.

To honor at least half her wishes, there will be no public service. If you would like to honor her life, donations can be made to the Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC, or the Spartanburg Humane Society.
